Rest
I can not stress enough, the importance
of time off for meditation. Without this break or time off to reflect, you are
just going through the motions. You have gained momentum, but may have moved
away from purpose. You are not a machine. Without purpose, what you are doing is
not a reflection of your true thoughts, because you have not taken the time to
find out if they are still inline or in harmony with your soul’s purpose.
Intention without purpose is pointless.
To carry on down the road, ignoring the detour sign, is not going to get you
where you want to go.
You must always think of yourself first,
you must be rationally selfish. You can not give unselfishly and serve yourself
as well. The "purpose," of what you are doing takes president. It doesn’t matter
whether you’re feeding the poor or planning your next bank robber. All things
reflect your inner thoughts. If your thoughts are not in harmony with spirit you
are denying yourself and your very existence. Prayer, meditation and reflection,
give you that opportunity to reflect. Time alone, is essential to recharge your
batteries. Working with needy people is commendable, but not if you don’t know
why you are doing it.
If you become so involved, that what you
do, becomes a responsibility or obligation, you may have passed over the line
between purpose and function. It is not ever your purpose to be responsible for
any other soul. Your prime responsibility is always to yourself first, it is
your first obligation. It is the most unselfish thing that you can do. When you
come from love, you always gives selfishly, because it is in your soul’s best
interest. When you give from obligation, you give from ego, unselfishly.
When you get to the point of asking
yourself why am I doing this or that, LISTEN. You are loosing your connection,
you have moved too far away from your purpose. It’s time to reconnect, you may
be heading in a different direction than when you started out, you are operating
on memory. Reflection, is your connection between what you are doing and what
you believe your purpose is. You may need to make modifications or move in an
entirely different direction all-together. You can not connect to your spiritual
self, while you are in the physical world.
The consequences of moving blindly in a
tired stupor, are reflected in accidents and illness. You will find the time,
one way or another. You will make yourself sick or get into an accident, in
order to facilitate the time off you feel you need, without having to take
responsibility for taking the time off.
Purpose drives us, it gives us a
tremendous reserve of energy and the momentum that we gain will keep us going
for a long time, we may eat less, sleep less and rest less. Sooner or later we
reach the point of asking "why," why am I doing this, why am I here? This is a
wake-up call. You are loosing touch with reality and simply need to re-connect,
be re-assured or given new direction. Your batteries need to be re-charged. What
you are now doing may no longer serve you, you may be ready to move to the next
level, why would you deny yourself that, because ego wants to maintain the
status-quo? Don’t lose sight of why you have been doing the thing, it was always
for yourself. You will naturally start to rationalize the reasons for what you
are doing. You may not want to move on. Your ego may get in the way and place
extra importance on what you are doing, because it feels safe and comfortable.
It alone may be driving you now. You may be working for ego, not purpose!
Purpose never requires thought, only
knowingness. You know you have moved away from purpose, when you begin to think
about it, and try to justify your actions. You do not need to struggle to find
purpose. You do not need to think about purpose, you do not need to create it.
You need to reconnect with it.
Make time, meditate, pray, get away, do
what ever is required to enter that quiet place where only you can be. A battery
is at rest while it is recharging, it is taking in more than it is giving out.
Do not live in the false illusion that you are indispensable. Life will go on
without you, and has for a long time. You are not a machine, and someone will
replace you, if not now, later. Your work is only important to you, because you
have convinced yourself that it is. Because you have created it, you must
maintain power over it. Your creation will die when you do, and it will die even
quicker, if you have no energy to give it.
Give yourself life and your work will
automatically receive life. Find your purpose again, and your work will have
purpose.
